Upgrading

Delema time - stay with my trusty Nikon D90 or upgrade to fullframe. With the arrival of the D800 and D800e I am thinking of upgrading to a full frame camera. What are the pro's and con's for doing this? I take a lot of Landscape photo's and was wondering if the extra pixels and fullframe would give me clearer and more defined photo's. I am not a professional but do love taking good photo's. Any help would be appreciatedSee More

"Thanks Ace, I am tending to lean towards the Nikon 105mm as I have heard good reports on this lens both as a Macro and for portrait photography. John"

"Hi John. I have the 105mm and have been very, very happy with it. Produces brilliant results. It has a reasonable working distance which is handy if you want to capture small "critters". With a 60mm macro lens you would need to get in much…"

Micro Lens

Thank you all for your assistance with my last post on Landscape Lenses. I ended up with and am enjoying using a Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM Lens.I now would like to find out about Micro Lenses. I have been using a friends 60mm micro and am enjoying this new dimension (for me) of Photography. I would like to purchase my own lens and am wondering what to buy. I have been told the Nikon 105mm is a great lens as is the Nikon 200mm micro or can you suggest another lens that may be more suitable. I…See More

"You can't go wrong with the Tokina 12-24 and the general consenus being that the Nikon 12-24 isn't worth the extra money. It's got less/simpler distortion at 12mm as well. On the flip side, its got a bit more CA than the Nikon, which…"

"Thank you all - I think I have narrowed the choice to either the Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 (preferred) or the Sigma 10 - 20mm F4-5.6 (budget preferred). Council of war with the finance director should choose which lens I eventually get. Again thank you…"

"Thanks Malcolm and John. I have looked at many sites and it all gets a little confusing. I have seen good reviews for Tokina, Tamron and Nikon so I guess a choice has to be made. I dare say the good folk at Photographic Wholesales will assist when I…"

Landscape Lens

Hello, very new to this group so apologies if this has been asked before. I am looking at purchasing a  lens for my D80 predominately for taking landscapes. My thoughts are either the Tonkina 12-24mm f4 or the Nikon equivalent. The Nikon is I believe double the price. My questions therefore are1. Is this a suitable lens?2. Is the Nikon twice as good as the Tonkina?3. If this lens is not suitable then what would be a good option?Any help is appreciatedThankyouJohnSee More
