40D vs 50D

Reading recently the a fairly in-depth review of the new Canon 50D (at www.dpreview.com) where it was compared to the 40D, a Nikon and a Sony DSLR - the outcomes (as I read it) is that the 40D produces better images, especially at low light and that the handful of new features of the 50D makes it difficult to justify the extra price being asked.
Does anyone have any comments or even better, first hand experience with both models?
