Need for Speed.

Christmas came early. Gives me 35mm equivalent of 100mm @ f1.1 with the 2X crop factor on the G1. Thought I'd learn how to use it before the mad Christmas rush so I can get some nice head shoulder portraits of friends & family.

Yes you are right I haven't got the resolution provided by a full frame, but for me at the moment, considering the size of the prints I knock out, it does the job nicely.

I trialled out the lens over the weekend on my cameraphobic family and am pleased with the results I am able to achieve so far. I would post some but they have threatened me with death if I do so.
I thought I'd miss in built stabilisation the factory lenses have, but it really doesn't matter as the shutter speed is so much faster and the weight of the lens provides a stable platform for hand held shots.
Outdoors in good light I have to stop down to 2.8 or smaller as I run out of shutter speed at 1/4000sec. The best thing is using it in low light, at 1.1 it is like a black hole that gobbles up any available light to give you an exposure that looks like it was taken in good light with reasonable shutter speeds with ISO settings at 400 and below to keep noise levels at acceptable levels and the DOF is razor thin.
I will post some nature and still life shots when I have more time up my sleeve.

I'm having fun learning :-)

Interested to see how you go with this. Nice but a few distractions in the background with such a sharp shot.

Nice lens Tim, just remember you are getting the field of view with the crop factor not the resolution of a 100mm. No doubt you will have a lot of fun with this.
