Hi Tim, You were partly right on males being same colour as females except in the Superb Blue Wren for brown tail In autumn young males get a blue tail and following spring get their breeding plumage.Most other wrens also have a brown tail until they start to mature John

Hi Tim, You are right they do look the same but I have noticed in the Blue Wrens that we have whre I live that some have a blue tail Maybe they are starting to mature Will check up later in the week when I get home from Brisbane Theses ones are female Redback wrens but I still have not a decent one of a male Thanks for yuor comments John

Don't know if it is true or not but are male wrens the same colour as the females until the reach maturity? Lovely image by the way. Beautiful birds.
