Hi all,

Just wanted to get the feelers out on buying a new lens. I shoot weddings with a D90 and was wanting to upgrade some of my lenses.

I need a really good lens to shoot all parts of the wedding rather than having to swap cameras all the time. I was looking at 70-200 2.8 VR Nikon or Sigma. Obviously the Nikon is $$$$. Any thoughts of a good upgrade lense out there that alot of people use?

I have 18-70mm and 70-300 at the moment but would like to update a little. Also any idea if Photographic Wholesalers do trade in for the above lenses for a new one and if so rough prices? There in great nic!

Thanks in advance.

Happy shooting!

For wedding you need high quality and my preference is for fast (f2.8 or lower)
My work horse when in a wedding is the 28-70 f2.8. my second choise is 70-200 f2.8 vr.

I love to shoot with my 85 f1.4 on FX.

check out my list of items for wedding shoots at http://www.premierimages.com.au/camera-gear.html and the area "Whats in my bag"

Word of advice. don't go cheap. the Nikon is more expensive for a reason..

Get the team at Photo wholesalers to work you out a deal, or even ask if you can rent a few lens and get a feel of your shooting length.

Good luck.

Recently watched and chatted to wedding photographer at my niece's wedding. His standard workhorse lens was the Nikon 24-70 f2.8, he also used the 14-24mm for more artistic/creative shots and used the 70-200 in the church and some outside shots. Because he was using a D3 he had no crop factor and he had superb high ISO performance. In fact he only used a video light for one set of shots in a dark corridor of the house. He loaned me the 14-24mm for half an hour to play around with - superb lens. I have the 24-70 (on a D300) and I am delighted with it - worth every cent.
