HI All,
The modification is available via canon service and will allow the user to lock the main control dial to the user preferred setting.
http://www.canon.com.au/en-AU/Support-Services/Support-News/DSLR-Se...
Canon will begin to provide mode dial locking modification as optional service for the digital single-lens reflex camera EOS 5D Mark II and EOS 7D from 6/12/2010. This modification is available to owners of these models who would prefer a Mode Dial which locks in place and cannot be accidentally moved during normal camera operation.
Note: A service fee will apply.
Please inquire at service centres for the details and prices for this service.

Hi Helen,
It is true there is no service centre in Adelaide but the canon staff normally do this service in a reasonable time. I would suggest having it done in the new year so you can still have your camera over the christmas and new year period. If you have any jobs on while the camera is away you can always look at our HIRE service there is a 5D MK II available in the kit.
Kind Regards,
Ian
