From small beginnings, come great things. We ask whether Colonel Light’s innovative vision for the city of Adelaide still resonates today. Judge for yourself!

Fourteen local photographers from the Adelaide Camera Club have collaborated for an exhibition titled, "Visions of Light" at the First Lounge Bar & Restaurant, Hotel Richmond, as part of SALA Festival 2009.

"Visions of Light" is a photographic exploration of the visual landscape of Adelaide and its surrounds, with each artist using their individual style and interpretation to capture the essence of the place that is our home. On Wednesday, 5 August 2009 at 7pm, the exhibition will be opened by Nicky Downer, 5AA radio host and wife of former Foreign Affairs Minister.

The exhibition is a collection of dynamic, inspiring, and poetic images that entwine the origin of our city with the essence of photography: Light.

The artists are: Des Berwick, Eugene Blackman, Fred Bray, John Callisto, Scott Carr, Naomi Clarke, Paul Clarke, Timothy Griffith, John Hodgson, Suzanne Opitz, Pippa Salaman, Jacqueline Stephens, Paul Tait, and George Ujvary.

“Visions of Light” is on display at First Lounge Bar and Restaurant, Hotel Richmond, 128 Rundle Mall, Adelaide from Monday 3 August 2009. Exhibition closes Sunday, 23 August 2009.
