Event Description

Media Release – February 2010
Clarke shows us how to see something new in the everyday this Fringe

Talented local photographer Naomi Clarke will showcase her new work beginning with a VIP Exhibition Opening on Friday 19th February at Adelaide Central Train Station North Terrace Adelaide.

Clarke’s exhibition for Fringe 2010, called Everyday Faces: Everyday Places, is a collection of portraits of people ranging from the well known to the man or woman on the street, all of them capturing raw emotions from excitement and joy to thoughtfulness and introspection.

Naomi has captured both faces we see on our screens daily like entertainment reporters Richard Wilkins and Richard Reed from Channel 9, as well as recording artist Diesel, local Portside artist Mark Lobert, and London Bomb survivor Dr Gill Hicks (M.A.D for Peace).

My work has been backed by funds from the Richard Llewellyn Arts Trust and I am honoured that his widow Becky Llewellyn will open the exhibition for me at Fringe 2010” said Naomi Clarke.

The Adelaide Central Train station will be the venue as this collection showcases people in normal environments as well as the way Naomi captures the individual experience of people in the everyday lives.

“The inspiration for this series of photographic portraits came from my love of getting to know different characters and showing how we are all linked by common emotions and expressions. I am excited by the stories I can capture on film from those telling of loss, despair and sadness to the opposite end of the spectrum to fun, intrigue and happiness” said Clarke.
